Aunt Melly Comes to Visit

15 Weeks Old
·          This week Aunt Melly came to visit us in Minnesota. Melanie was on her mission when my parents and brother Ryan came to visit last fall so we gave Melly the full tour of the Twin Cities. This week we drove to Wisconsin to buy cheese, stopped in Hudson and walked around, went swimming, visited the Mall of America, and saw the animals at Como Zoo.
Madi has been very vocal this week and is starting to coo- lots of ah, ah, ah's around our house :)
·
Madi and Daddy watching 'The Masters' (a big golf tournament). Madi finally got to wear her "Daddy's Little Caddy" onesie.

Getting 'Cupcake' at the Mall of America- our favorite is the lemon cupcake, so yummy!

Aunt Melly was able to stay for part of this week and together we visited the Stone Arch Bridge, Mill City Museum, and the Minnesota Cherry Spoon.
While Melanie was here we also made matching mom and baby skirts and we started working on a white ruffle dress for Madi's blessing (Melanie really did most of the work though :). We weren't able to finish her blessing dress so Melly took it home to finish and Madi will get to wear it next Sunday when we bless her in church :)
This week Madi also rolled from her back to her front, but it only happened once...

Thanks Aunt Melly for coming to visit!

17 Weeks Old
Madi is starting to use her own hands to put things into her mouth, she is starting to get some control over her hands.
It finally warmed up in Minnesota and Madi wore her first pair of shorts.
Madi loves to be outside. She coos when we take her outside and if she is crying, taking her outside will help her to calm down. We are grateful that we will be in Oregon soon where the weather is warmer than our Minnesota winters :)
Madi had her 4 month appointment and she is now 23. 75 inches tall, and weighs 17 lbs 5 oz- more than a 9 month old baby we know! Madi also had her shots and was a champ! She didn't cry and only whimpered when the band aids were put on.

Everything goes in her mouth :)

 Growing out of her clothes!

Loving the outdoors

Escaping her swaddle- very tricky :)

So brave after visiting the doctor. The doctor gave her the book for being so good :)

Madi is becoming mobile! She now consistently rolls from back to front and front to back. She loves to roll across the living room :)
Madi has also found her voice and loves to scream and yell when she is happy. This poses a problem at church though and I've had to pick her up when she is perfectly happy because she is squealing so loud :)
This week we visited daddy at the University of Minnesota campus and got to see where he goes to school. Madi even wore her U of M jersey :)

The majority of Cody's classes were in this building

 Golden Gopher

Poor Madi's bald spot :(

 Loving outside

We were at the golf store and saw these clubs- they are for golfers under 4 years old. I'm sure Madi will have some of these in her future :)

Best Mother's Day :)

I am so grateful for Madi and grateful for the opportunity to be a mom. She is the sweetest, happiest, cutest baby and I am honored to be her mom. Motherhood is an awesome responsibility and I now realize how much time and energy is required to be able to raise a child. I am thankful for my mom and her sacrifice to raise me and my siblings. Thanks mom (and now grandma :)) WE LOVE YOU!

Easter and Conference

12 Weeks Old
Madi got her first cold this week. It is our doctor's policy to see any babies with colds who are under 3 months so we took her in. She got over the cold a few days later, but we were able to have her weighed and measured which normally wouldn't have been done until her 4 month appointment. Madi now weighs 15 lbs 2 oz and is 23.25 inches tall.
Madi had her first playdate with our friend Cami Lorris while the daddies went indoor golfing (there is snow on the ground here; we can't wait to get to Salem- rarely any snow!). It was fun to see Cami crawling around and starting to stand up on her own. Cami even inspired Madi to roll over 3 times!
Madi also had a visit from the Easter bunny! She got a new dress, some bunny jammies, and a chick puppet.

Happy baby even when she is sick :)

Madi and Cami- I couldn't get a picture with her hands out of her mouth :)

This week Madi has consistently wanted to stand up with her legs straight.
She also enjoys flying around the house like Superwoman :)
Madi was able to watch her first General Conference. She did really well during the sessions and we were able to listen to most of conference. She really likes watching tv and we try to limit the time that she watches, but we made some exceptions this weekend.

'Watching' Conference

14 Weeks
Madi is starting to grab her plastic ball and bring it to her mouth. Several times she has grabbed the ball but can't figure out how to let go :)
We were able to take a few walks on the bike path that is across the street from our house. The path connects the two University of Minnesota campuses. Some day we may walk to Cody's school and have lunch with him. Unfortunately it snowed later this week so it will be a while before we are able to walk on that path.
This week Madi went to her first hockey game. It was also the first hockey game that Cody and I have attended. Madi loved it and watched the ice the whole time she was awake :)

 Bundled up for our walk

The mom of one of my good friends who I used to work with made this lamb doll for Madi. So cute!
